Ways to Give

Bishop Noll Institute's progress over the years has been made possible by the continued support of our alumni and friends. Their gifts enable us to continue to challenge, educate, and enlighten our students and to help us fulfill our mission. Our website now gives you the opportunity to learn more about giving to Bishop Noll and even contribute to our Annual Fund online. For questions on making a gift to BNI, please contact: Mary Ellen O'Neill, Director of Advancement, at 219.932.9058, ext. 1002 or moneill@bishopnoll.org. Your consideration and generosity are greatly appreciated.

The Annual Fund is the largest fundraising effort at Bishop Noll Institute. Annual Fund monies support the gap between current tuition costs and the actual cost of educating each student. Click here to make your gift now.

If you're looking for the most tax-effective gift to make to a charitable organization, your individual retirement account (IRA) may very well be the best choice.

Providing for the future well-being of your family and, at the same time, supporting the mission of Bishop Noll Institute can be accomplished through a variety of gifts known as planned gifts. Planned gifts, such as bequests and income-producing gifts, can provide benefits to your family now and in the future, and are gifts that will benefit Bishop Noll Institute for many generations to come. Other gift opportunities, including the use of retirement assets, allow for maximizing the current and future benefit both to your family and to Bishop Noll Institute. We strive to strengthen the mission of Bishop Noll Institute by involving its alumni, parents, and friends with the current work of the school. If you have included Bishop Noll Institute in your estate plan, please share the news with us so that we may honor you.

Giving appreciated stock to Bishop Noll Institute is a wonderful way to help us continue our mission and for the owner to receive tax benefits on such gifts. It allows Bishop Noll Institute to receive a larger gift than if it was sold by the owner and the proceeds donated to the school. In turn, the owner receives a greater tax deduction by giving the stock directly to Bishop Noll Institute.

Many people who own stock today have it held for them by their brokerage firm. To sell the stocks/securities held by your brokerage firm, you can request an electronic transfer to complete the transaction.

Another means of maintaining holdings of stock is to take delivery of the stock (receive the stock certificate) when purchasing. To sell or transfer stock when a physical certificate is held by the owner, a manual transfer must occur. The owner needs to take or mail the stock certificates to the new owner, a bank or brokerage company (for them to transfer), or to the company’s transfer agent.

In September 2012, former BNI football players from the '50s through the '90s held a special reunion to pay  tribute to Hall of Fame member and former BNI head football coach Jerry Vlasic.  These former players recognized a need to support the current athletic program and pay tribute to a beloved coach.  The Lettermen Locker Room Challenge raised funds necessary to completely renovate the boys' locker room in the BNI fieldhouse.  In February 2015, Vince Berta '76 offered a challenge to former athletes - he would match all donations up to $10,000 made by June 1, 2015.  Our Warriors met this challenge in true style raising $10,500!  New lockers, paint and lighting were completed last year.

Future enhancements will include flooring, showers and vent work.  If you missed the challenge, you can still help!  Please consider supporting our current BNI Lettermen by contributing today All donors will be recognized on a plaque outside of the renovated locker room.

Please lend your support today for all that Bishop Noll has done for you. C'mon, Warriors, accept the challenge today!

Following the demolition of the 70-year-old "A" Building this summer, alumni interest inspired us to begin selling bricks. Sales began during the Tailgate Party. Each brick costs $30 and includes an engraved plaque. Bricks are cleaned and sealed and unique and make a great present for that hard-to-shop-for BNI alum or student in your family. For more information and photos of bricks, read the full story here.

Bricks can be reserved with a credit card payment by clicking here and selecting the “Buy a brick” designation from the drop down menu. Purchased bricks will be held at the main office, 1519 Hoffman St., for pick up between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. All bricks must be picked up at Bishop Noll as we are unable to mail them.

Bricks can also be purchased by credit card, check or cash by contacting the advancement office at (219) 932-9058 or e-mail advancement@bishopnoll.org.

Bishop Noll Institute is a special community that thrives because of the common purpose of its constituents - students who want to learn, faculty who want to teach, alumni and donors who provide necessary funding and leadership, and parents who expect the very best education for their children. Everyone is a stakeholder in the future of our students.  The result is a dynamic environment for learning in which we work together to prepare young people to successfully meet the challenges of living, learning, and working in the world. It is Bishop Noll's ministry to promote and maintain a diverse student body composed of young women and men from a wide range of cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Scholarship dollars are an important facet of our fundraising efforts in fulfilling that ministry. Tuition at Bishop Noll Institute for the 2017-18 will cost $8,400 for a Diocese of Gary family. Please consider funding a scholarship to support the current students at BNI.

Again, please contact: Mary Ellen O'Neill, Director of Advancement, at 219.932.9058, ext. 1002 or via email at moneill@bishopnoll.org with any questions on making a gift to BNI.
Thank you!

Father John Winterlin served as Chairman of the Fine Arts Department at Bishop Noll Institute and taught music and theology from 1969-1988. He instilled his love of music to many BNI students through his many musical productions and choral concerts.

The music department at Bishop Noll would like to honor the legacy of Fr. Winterlin with the The Rev. John Winterlin Award.  This award will be a monetary award presented to a current member of the Bishop Noll Choir at the end of the academic year. The purpose of this award is to both recognize the contributions of Father Winterlin to the music program at Bishop Noll Institute,  as well as the achievements of current Noll choir students.

The recipients of this award will be a student who has gone above and beyond in their accomplishments, respect and level of commitment to the Bishop Noll choir. Our goal for the monetary amount of the award is $500.  If you were inspired by Fr. Winterlin, and would like to support the funding of this award, please send your donation to the attention of Mary Ellen O’Neill, Director of Advancement.  We kindly ask that checks be in reference to the “Winterlin Award” and made payable to Bishop Noll Institute.

In February 2016, longtime BNI boys’ golf coach Dennis Koliboski passed away unexpectedly. For 12 years Dennis coached the boys’ golf team, and previously both boys’ and girls’ golf teams at BNI. Dennis was loved and respected by his players, with many keeping in touch with him long after they graduated from BNI.
Always supportive of Bishop Noll, Dennis rarely missed the chance to participate in the Annual BNI Golf Invitational. His presence at the golf outing was sorely missed in July by former students, alumni and family. A special live auction took place that night to raise funds for the Dennis Koliboski Award. The award will be a monetary award presented to a graduating senior on either the boys’ or girls’ golf teams who has demonstrated leadership, sportsmanship and a passion for the game of golf.
If you would like to support the funding of this award, please send your donation to the attention of Mary Ellen O’Neill, Director of Advancement. We kindly ask that checks reference the “Dennis Koliboski Award” and are made payable to Bishop Noll Institute.
