Congratulations to Bishop Noll senior Kimberly Padilla, who has been named a National Speech and Debate Association Academic All-American!
The Academic All American award recognizes high school students who have earned the honor society degree of Superior Distinction; completed at least 5 semesters of high school; demonstrated outstanding character and leadership; and have met the unweighted GPA requirements. Only about 2 percent of National Speech & Debate Association member students in the country receive the Academic All American Award.
Reflecting on her time with the speech team, Padilla noted that the experience was transformative. "I learned to face uncomfortable situations head-on and think on the fly," she said. "Without speech, I genuinely would not be the person I am today."
This academic honor comes on the heels of another massive milestone for Padilla: being awarded a full, four-year scholarship to Middlebury College via the highly competitive QuestBridge National College Match program. As she prepares to study law at the "mini-Ivy" institution in Vermont, she joins an exclusive group of BNI scholars, achieving the Graduate with Distinction honor for those graduates with a GPA of 4.0 or above.
Kimberly is Bishop Noll's fifth Academic All-American, joining classmate Jolette Luna; her sister, Angela Luna '20; and Jackie Vazquez and Abi Kawalec, both Class of 2021.
Bishop Noll Institute, a diverse, Catholic college preparatory school, partners with local faith communities to empower young adults to live their faith in Christ through ministry, scholarship, and leadership.
