Join the Society: A benefit of making a planned gift to Bishop Noll Institute is that it won’t affect your existing financial resources, but will make a significant impact on BNI and, more importantly, the future students of BNI as it helps solidify our future.
As we celebrated our centennial in 2021 and have seen significant and continued growth and success in the years since, we acknowledge those who have shared in our vision with planned gifts. As we continue to plan for BNI’s future, and as you plan your future, we can share the vision of legacy for our school well into its second century.
Membership & Recognition: The 1921 Legacy Society
Bishop Noll Institute’s 1921 Legacy Society is named for the year Catholic Central High School was founded by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ religious sisters. Their vision to provide top-tier secondary education in the Catholic tradition, was carried on by Bishop John Francis Noll, whose beneficence helped grow the mission and for whom the school was renamed in 1946. The school continued its ascent as a leader in Catholic education, growing to the point that in 1968, it was the largest Catholic high school in Indiana and the 17th largest in the United States.
More than a century after its founding, having formed tens of thousands of graduates in mind, body and soul – graduates who continue to make great contributions to today’s world – BNI is fulfilling the legacy of the Poor Handmaids and of Bishop Noll himself.
Our school is deeply grateful to our alumni, parents and friends who continue to help make that legacy thrive, ensuring opportunities for future generations of BNI Warriors. As members of the 1921 Legacy Society, these benefactors have thoughtfully included Bishop Noll Institute in their estate plans. These deferred giving arrangements include trusts, bequests, insurance gifts and IRA contributions.

Creating Your Legacy: How to Give
In order to find the right gift for Bishop Noll Institute in a manner that best supports your retirement and life plans, estate planning is recommended. While BNI can offer options, the school does not fill the role of adviser. Therefore, it is highly recommended our benefactors consult with their tax adviser and/or an estate attorney to plan the gift that best works for them and for BNI.
There are many options by which a planned gift can be constructed. Those include:
A simple bequest (such as a percentage of residual estate)
IRA or life insurance beneficiary
Real estate
Lifetime income gifts, such as a charitable gift annuity or remainder trust
Donor advised funds
Financial Benefits & Professional Guidance
While supporting the mission of BNI, a gift from your estate also can provide you substantial tax advantages, especially on gifts of stock and real estate. Ask your tax adviser on the savings that can be realized on income, estate and capital gains taxes, and consider crafting a gift with your adviser that fits your needs as well as the needs of Bishop Noll Institute.
Those who name BNI a beneficiary in their estate plans or name BNI a beneficiary in your plans qualify for the 1921 Legacy Society. They will be recognized in a main area of the school for their beneficence with their name appearing on a plaque and a QR code linking to an interview given (if so willing) on why it was important for them to invest in the future of Bishop Noll and its students.
For those who go above and beyond with a gift of $250,000 or more, once that gift is received by BNI, the donor(s) will be recognized with a special large plaque that includes a photo image and a QR code for the video link. Additionally, the gift(s) will be celebrated with a special Mass in honor of the donor(s) and a special gathering to give thanks.
If you seek to identify potential advisers or attorneys, BNI can offer names for consideration, but will not recommend specific professionals.
All Bishop Noll and Catholic Central alumni, and many family members, have been beneficiaries of our first century. Please consider planning your most meaningful gift to BNI to ensure our success for the next 100 years.
