Art students showcase work in Whiting
Six original art pieces by Bishop Noll Institute students are on display in the Bernard Gallery at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting.
Student artists Maddie Mitchell, Samantha Vega, Maggie Dominiak, Aaliyah Porter and Sigifredo Gonzalez submitted pieces for the annual juried high school art exhibit, which takes place April 11 to 30.
“This is a busy time for student galleries, but I find it important for students to have access to come to the shows and be able to see their art on display,” said BNI art teacher Michael Carioto.
The student artwork varied from graphite drawings to oil paintings, both original and master copies.
“All of the students from Noll worked hard and supplied full, well done and cohesive pieces for the public to see. We in the Visual Arts Department are very proud of each student’s effort and work on display and feel that it well represents Noll and the hard work our students put in,” Carioto said.
