Creative Writing Club is an academic club for students who love to write anything from poems to short stories, novels to plays. Currently, the club meets once a month, with each session themed around a particular writing skill to be developed, and the interests of club members drive these themes. Students also learn how to offer feedback on writing to their fellow students. The Creative Writing Club is a supportive environment for students wishing to work on and have an audience for their writing.
  • Art Club

    Sponsor: Ms. Gwiazda
Art Club is an after school activity where students get to work on the artwork of their choice while also getting the opportunity to socialize with other creative peers. We work with drawing, painting, and ceramics and are open to trying new media forms. We have done resin art, acrylic pour art, glass paintings, and so much more! We meet once a week (Tuesdays) after school until 4:30 pm. Students are all allowed to work on different projects, but sometimes we do collaborations and every year around Halloween we do a pumpkin painting and carving party. The only requirement to be in this club is that you come to work on artwork each week. Students who are the most dedicated have had their artwork shown on campus at BNI as well as outside art shows like the Tri-County Art Exhibition at the The Center for the Visual and Performing Arts in Munster, IN.

This is a space for students who can't fit theatre into their schedules or just want more of it to get on stage or pick up a tool/paintbrush!
BNI Drama Club is a key to BNI's performing arts department. Along with our various other activities, the company performs two shows a year: a fall play and a spring musical. The theatre company is open for anyone to join in any of the following positions: performer, stage manager, lighting technician, sound technician, prop manager, set construction, set design, makeup artist, hair stylist, costume designer, and many more. Whatever you have a passion for, BNI has a place for you!

In addition to our regular performing arts company, hard-working actors and technicians who go above and beyond have the opportunity to be inducted into BNI's esteemed award-winning thespian troupe: Troupe #3873. For years, this distinguished troupe has had the ability to compete at the regional and state level. With such an elite legacy, the troupe holds itself to a high standard of theatrical performance, staying true to the values set by professional broadway performers while also creating a warm and accepting environment for whoever needs a loving theatre family!

Teams attend a workshop hosted by CST (and taught by theater professionals) in the fall to learn about text work and staging, and then they will compete with their two scenes in a Saturday regional bout. Winners of the regional bouts get the opportunity to perform on the CST stage in January, but all teams attend the "final bout" for support. All students are welcome to participate, and "auditions" are usually combined with the auditions for the fall play. The core goals of SLAM are: Be seen. Be heard. Be creative. Take risks. Play as an ensemble. SLAM is perfect for those wishing to fine-tune their acting and directing skills, and students get the incredible opportunity to work with and learn from professionals in the field.
