Documentary tells 100 years of school stories
To prepare for the Centennial Celebration, a group of Bishop Noll alumni, historians and staff members joined a local documentarian to create a definitive video history of the past 100 years of the school.
“Documentarian Paul Nelson interviewed dozens of Bishop Noll and Catholic Central alumni from throughout the years,” said Jennifer Florek, Centennial history committee member.
The team gathered more than 2,000 images and recorded 43 interviews to help tell the story of Bishop Noll. It is narrated by Chicago television journalist and Bishop Noll alum Phil Ponce.
This documentary, which is about 1 hour and 15 minutes, covers the challenges, accomplishments and setbacks throughout the years.
The film was shown to students on Founder’s Day (Sept. 16, 2021) and premiered to the public Sept. 18 in the BNI auditorium.
Nelson said, “The hard part about making a documentary like this one is that there are so many things to put into a hundred year retrospective, but there is a limited time to tell the story. The most difficult part is telling as much about Noll as we can in a little over an hour.”
“I believe our history documentary will make all Warriors proud of our school,” said Principal Lorenza Jara Pastrick.
DVD copies of the documentary are now available to purchase for $20. DVDs can be purchased in the main office by contacting jsandoval@bishopnoll.org. Online orders via credit card can be done by clicking here. Shipping is available.
