Curriculum
Six credit hours for a CORE 40 diploma and Academic Honor Diploma
Biology I, Chemistry I and one other Science is required

Science Classes for 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade and 12th grade.

9th Grade: Freshman Biology 170 or Freshman Biology 270.
Determined by Placement Exam.

10th Grade: Biology II - Environmental Science (Pre-requisite Bio I). Chemistry I (by invitation for Sophomores).

11th Grade: Chemistry I or A.P. Biology, or A.P. Chemistry (Pre-requisites Bio I and Chem. I)
The Science Department will determine placement in Chemistry I

12th Grade: Chemistry I or A.P. Biology, or A.P. Chemistry (Pre-requisites Bio I and Chem. I). Physics (Pre-requisite Alg. II).

Advanced Placement Courses:
Biology: Students develop a conceptual framework for modern biology and gain an appreciation of science as a process. Essential to conceptual understanding are the following: a grasp of science as a process rather than as an accumulation of facts; personal experience in scientific inquiry; recognition of unifying themes that integrate the major topics of biology and application of biological knowledge and critical thinking to environmental and social concerns.

Chemistry: Selected topics of electrochemistry, thermo- chemistry, acids, bases and buffers will be covered. This course is especially oriented toward students who are interested in the science or medical fields. At the completion of the course, students must take the Advanced Placement Exam prescribed by the college board.
