Greetings alumni and friends of Bishop Noll Institute. Once again BNI students are investing their hearts and efforts into special causes and events during this holiday season.  As you may have heard, Bishop Noll is more than a high school – we are a family – a melting pot of cultures and individuals demonstrating the true character of the Noll community xxx. Recently, an employee of  Noll, a  family member, suffered a devastating loss in their personal life; she lost her home in a fire. The fire destroyed the home, the family’s clothes and furnishings along with many treasured items. Thankfully, no one was injured. Upon hearing the news the Noll community rallied together and raised more than $2,000 in just 24 hours to help our family member during this difficult time. This monetary gift along with moral support will help our friend & co-worker with the healing and rebuilding process.
In addition to from helping our own, the Noll community came together on Nov. 20 for our annual Thanksgiving Mass.  Most Reverend Bishop Dale J. Melczek led the celebration.  Noll students presented Bishop Melczek with a check of nearly $900 to donate to his charity of his choice. During our Thanksgiving Mass items from our Thanksgiving food drive were displayed. The annual Thanksgiving food drive collected more than 3,000 non-perishable items for St. Joseph’s Soup Kitchen in Hammond.  Noll senior, Heather Wanek, said she is proud of her classmates and commented on how students gave from their hearts without asking for anything in return.
Noll’s generosity continued with BNI National Honor Society Blood Drive held on Friday, November 30.  One National Honor Society member shared that they felt proud of how the Bishop Noll family gives.  National Honor Society Advisor, Geri Brownowski believes the students realize they are helping people and for every pint of blood donated students could help save three lives.
In other Noll news, we recently had both of our High School Open Houses on November 13 and December 6.  Prospective students and their families were treated to a rousing Warrior Welcome. School tours were lead by current Noll students, athletic and students clubs were on hand to discuss after-school activities and administrators to there to assure every question was answered. The first placement exam will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at BNI. Interested families should contact Mike Juscik, Director of Admissions for additional information on the placement exam and related admissions questions.
Fighting off our first winter storm of the season, Santa Claus and his helpers stopped by Noll on Saturday, December 1 for the second annual Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by the BNI Parents’ Club.  This year the event had more than 60 vendors on hand and provided visitors with all-in-one Christmas shopping.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Noll students. The Parents’ Club Holiday Bazaar is great example of the dedication Noll parents and friends feel.
