The Bishop Noll campus has been a buzz the past several weeks with an array of activities. The exciting and event filled days of homecoming are behind us and now the Noll community is concentrating on new events across campus.

The Bishop Noll Student Council will be spearheading the Ambre House project this fall. The house is named after the late Father James Ambre, former BNI faculty member and will be a facility for pregnant teenagers slated to open in December of this year. Noll students will raise funds to furnish two rooms. Student Council Advisor, Lydia Skurka, said Noll was approached last year to assist in furnishing a mother’s and a baby room. The rooms furnished by Noll will be named the “The Noll Rooms.” Noll student council selected gifts at a local retail store and each homeroom class will be responsible for raising money to purchase an item from the gift registry. Ambre House Director Rose Hoffman said she is grateful for Noll’s participation in the program and demonstrates the character of Noll students.

In other Noll student news, the theatre department will present Disney’s Beauty & the Beast as its fall musical on Nov. 10, 16, 17 and 18. Saturday shows begin at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. Directed by Noll faculty member, Heather Green with assistance from student director David Wagner and produced by Drama Department Chair, Elizabeth Conley this show will bring the magic and wonder of a classic Disney production to our school. The award winning musical will be a sure delight for the whole family and tickets will be available at the door - seniors and students are $4 and adults $5.

Last week, Noll seniors participated in a career day at the school. Area businesses were on hand to share with students’ information on future career choices. A handful of these business leaders are Noll alum, just another facet of how Noll alum are always giving back to their Alma Mater.

In Parent Club news, there will be a Halloween Dance for BNI students on Saturday, Oct. 27 with best costume and door prizes. The Parents Club will also host their annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 1. Led by Club President Anna Howard and her team of dedicated parent volunteers don’t miss this day of one-stop shopping at Noll this holiday season. Some items featured items are specialty Christmas gifts, tree ornaments, stocking stuffers, make-up, jewelry, kitchenware, candles, and baked goods.

In administrative and alumni news, Principal Scott D. Fech, ’85 was featured in Indiana Business Magazine as one of the top twenty leaders under the age of 40. Fech returned to Noll as Principal in fall of 2002 and the school has experienced significant improvements under Fech’s leadership. Enrollment has increased, test scores are up and alumni giving has more than doubled in recent years. Bishop Noll will continue to achieve new heights in secondary education across Northwest Indiana and the country by continuing our dedication to our mission and striving for excellence.
