Greetings alumni and friends of Bishop Noll. I would like to share a story about the Mysliwy family, one of the many Bishop Noll families that carry on the proud Bishop Noll tradition.

Sophomore David Mysliwy has a special connection with two of his teachers. David has his mother and older brother as teachers. David's mother, Lydia Skurka, a Noll alum class of '74, is a seventeen year veteran, teaches Theology and serves as Noll's student council advisor. Lydia said she has a love for her job, and it's the reason she keeps coming back to Noll year after year. It has also been a place where her children have attended and it's now a place where she works along side her oldest son and teachers her youngest child.

This would not be the first time that Lydia has had one of her children as students. Lydia also taught her daughter Claire '07. While Lydia's other daughter; Maggie '04 was at Noll she did not have her mother as a teacher.

Tim Mysliwy is a first year teacher at the school in the Math Department and serves as the 8th grade Volleyball coach.

During school, Tim said he sees his younger brother, David, as any other student and has no problems with him in class. Tim came to Noll after serving as the school’s math tutor last year and said he has been welcomed since day one by colleagues. Tim said it has been nice having his mother has a colleague and commented on how he can go his mother with questions on school policy and to stay on schedule with Noll activities.
David said he likes the fact that he knows two of his teachers as more than a teacher and has no difficulties being a student in their classrooms. The youngest Mysliwy said he likes everything about Noll and has made many friends. David participates on Noll's tennis and baseball teams and is currently enrolled in Honors Algebra 2, Honors Chemistry and Honors English. David's goal is to be ranked in the top three by his senior year to beat his sister Claire, who was number four in academics in her graduating class.

The Mysliwy family is just one of the many families that make Bishop Noll more than just a place to go to school—they make it a home away from home with a large extended family.

In other Noll news, next week begins Noll's Homecoming week. The festivities begin Monday, Oct. 1 with a variety of activities for students to participate in during the week. Our Homecoming football game will feature our Warriors versus Wheeler High School on Friday, Oct. 5. Game time is 7 p.m. Immediately following the game, we welcome and our over 21 alumni and friends to our Tailgate party in the Bishop Noll Fieldhouse. Everyone will be treated to food, beverages and a DJ—for only $10. The classes of '87 and '97 are also holding their reunions that weekend and many of them will receive a tour of BNI led by Principal Scott D. Fech '85. The Homecoming Dance for current Noll students will be on Saturday, Oct. 6 -this year's theme is a Black and White New York Night

I wish all of you the best and welcome you home to Noll this upcoming week. I hope to see many alumni and friends during Homecoming. The Pride is back—come see for yourself!
